At 8pm sharp, the smudging ceremony began in our maloca (ceremony room). Swap and Pablo (our Shamans) walked around to each person, blowing smoke on us and spraying aqua de flor to rid each of us from any negative energy. After that was complete, one by one, we came up to Pablo as he poured us a cup of ayahuasca. The smell was exactly how I remembered, thick, sour, and pungent. (Just thinking of it right now makes me want to gag.) As I received my cup, I brought it up to my third eye which is the space between my eyebrows, the space of light and intention, I prayed that Mother Ayahuasca would show me anything and everything I needed to see, cheered to those around me, “Salud!” and gulped my elixir down.
After the last person took their cup, we all sat in silence for about 30 minutes until it began… The purging (a.k.a. sounds of people vomiting) was all around me but I was left with an empty bucket. No vomiting for me?? Wow, very interesting. The visuals were also very light. Not like the bright greens, blues, reds, and pinks, I was used to when I had my ayahuasca ceremonies in Peru. But the messages, they were definitely there… Check out my vlog below as I tell you about my journey from that evening. Enjoy!
